On Nov/21 Tokyo branch demonstrated Karate-Do at Okinawan party in Tokyo.

On 12th/ Nov, Sensei William Repof and other 2 guests from the U.S. visited Japan to participate class at Tokyo and then training at Okinawa.
On 13th (Sat), they participated Japanese culture class at Kanagawa womens center then Karate class at Fujisawa dojo.
On 14th(Sun) they will have short sightseeing tour at Tokyo and go to Okinawa.

On 31st/oct, Tokyo branch had joint class with Mr Thomas Podzelny and Mr markus wedel from Germany at Yokohama tsurumi dojo.
They plan to go to Okinawa to get promotion test for Karate 0n 2nd/Nov.

On 12th/Sep, Shonanshubukan students demonstrated karate and kobudo at Festa Machida which was held 0n 11th and 12th.
This festival is famous for it's EISA which is the largest in Kanagawa prefecture.
There were many audience atour 15 minutes Enbu of Uechiryu karate and we got many inquiry about our training and class and some asked to see our class.
Thanks for students who performed this demonstration and let's see again at next years this festa with KUSHINKAI members who also performed demonstration of karate.

Tokyo Branch sponsored the special seminar on September 4th (Saturday) and 14th Tokyo Metropolitan Area Karate-Do Championship (Adults category) on September 5th (Sunday). Shinzaburo Okuhama Sensei (Ishikawa Dojo) and Kazuya Takara Sensei (Futenma Dojo) were invited from Okinawa as instructors and they led the Kobudo class, Kata clinic and Kumite class in 3 dojos. The seminars were very substantial and fruitful with so many participants from both junior and adults members. Especially in the Kumite class, special menu for reviving authentic Kyu kumite which had been taught as a Yakusoku kumite in old Uechi-Ryu dojos was made out and all of participants worked out very hard to master it.
On September 5th (Sunday), 14th Tokyo Metropolitan Area Karate-Do Championship (Adult category) was held in Fujisawa Municipal Muraoka Elementary School Gymnasium. 50 participants (the largest number in the past) played exciting matches in Kata tournament (4 categories) and Kumite tournament (3 categories). The rookies got a place one after another and Takahiro Sugimoto (Chigasaki Dojo) finally realized his dearest wish of his first win on Men's Kumite Dan category. The Gymnasium was filled with a storm of applause and cheering for wonderful matches one after another.

On 7th / Aug, at Shonan shubukan, We had promotional test, 29 candidates participated
and all were successfully passed the test.
Before the test, overseas members demonstrated other style Kata.

On 17th and 18th, Tokyo branch held 15th anniversary event
Seminor, karate tournament for junior class and party and all of those successfully ended.

On 27th & 29th/May, Tokyo branch held joint class with Mr Donald Hanan 4th dan from U.S.A. and Mr Thomas Podzelny 3rd dan from Germany.
Mr Donald Hanan came to Japan 15 years ago as first Fujisawa Dojo instructor and contributed for prosperity of present Tokyo branch, He came to Tokyo after 6 years absence.We enjoyed reunion.
On the other hand, Mr Thomas teaches Uechi ryu karate, Aikido and Ryukyu kobudo in Germany and has more than 100 students.
He was officially approved to join our organization after interview from Tokyo branch board members.
We plan to contribute this style prosperrity with both of them.

Tokyo branch had farewell party of Kina sensei on 9th / May who go back to Okinawa on 10th.
Kina sensei came to Tokyo for work about 20 years ago and established Yokohama dojo, at the same time, He served for association as Chairman of Tokyo.
Tokyo branch arranged to watch Sumo tournament and Dinner at China town in Yokohama.
Both of which must be his good memory as it related his 20 years life in Tokyo and Yokohama.
We spend very nice time with all the participants.
We will continuously do our effort to expand Uechi ryu katrate in main land Japan

I am very proud to be assigned as Chairman of board of Tokyo branch.
And I respect Kina sensei (former chairman of the board of Tokyo branch)
for his 6 years dedication to this association.
Kina sensei was very reliable for us as he is Okinawan origin and has long time experience in this traditional Okinawan Karate and I feel my responsibility is very heavy after him.
It is very rate in Martial arts world, that woman leader dominate the association
However, Uechi ryu is half hard half soft and has flexibility.
I wish to govern this organization with sense of woman and flexibility
I hope all of members cooperation to expand this Okinawa karate to the world.

Tokyo Branch held a short lecture of First Aid for instructors on March 20th. A bone setting doctor was invited from a clinic near by Dojo and our instructors learnt the first aid to a fracture of bone, a blow and so on.
Also a regular board meeting of Tokyo branch was held after the lecture. The main subjects were Extraordinally election of the new board and action schedule of the branch on 2010. Then Hirao Sensei was elected to the President of Tokyo Branch and Abe Sensei was elected to the Chairman of the board. It might not be common in Japan that a female is elected to the post to be responsible for entire branch organization. But Tokyo branch is not sticking to old Karate organization customs and intending to be a frontier in Karate organizations at the present day together with our Okinawa headquarter.

On Dec.23rd,2009, Sensei Ichiro Abe and Hitoshi Sumida ,Fujio Niijima took part in a wedding party of Mr.Joel Young who was a member of US Airforce Yokota Air Base Dojo.
At the party, they perfomed Karate demonstration.
